Novara between the 19th and 20th Centuries: News and Images of the City and Territory from the Guida di Novara Periodical (1846–1912)

The "Carlo Negroni" Civic Library of Novara, with the support of the Piedmont Region, developed the digitization project Historical Periodicals of the Novara Area, dedicated to a collection of great social, economic, and historiographical value. This initiative documents the everyday life of past communities and preserves their cultural heritage for future generations.

As part of this project, the virtual exhibition "Novara between the 19th and 20th Centuries: News and Images of the City and Territory from the Guida di Novara Periodical (1846–1912)" was created in collaboration with the University of Eastern Piedmont’s Library System and, specifically, the “Rita Fossaceca” Library at the Novara Campus. This exhibition highlights the long-standing and fruitful partnership between the Civic Library and the University libraries.

The exhibition is accessible via a direct link from the BiblioUPO portal, the catalog of the University Library System and the Lower Novara Area Library Network. Within the virtual space, visitors can explore the images through a thematic and interactive path, with annotated panels providing historical context to enrich the experience.

The Virtual Exhibition is part of a broader project presented by the Library System of the University of Eastern Piedmont and funded by the PNRR Next Generation EU program, coordinated by the Ministry of Culture.

Reading Migration: Stories, Paradigms, Social Aspects

This virtual exhibition explores the migration phenomenon from multiple perspectives. Its three sections reconstruct individual stories, identify socio-cultural paradigms, and analyze the economic and social impact of migration. The journey is illustrated through images drawn from books held by UPO libraries and the “Carlo Negroni” Civic Library in Novara.
